Situation, task, action, result. The structure is what to copy; the story should be yours.

“Tell me about a student you helped make real progress.”

  1. Situation

    A Year 9 student was two grades behind in maths and had stopped trying.

  2. Task

    Rebuild her confidence and close the gap before exams.

  3. Action

    I found the gap was fractions, set short daily practice with instant feedback, and gave her one small visible success a week.

  4. Result

    She moved up a grade in two terms and started answering questions in class.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Describing a teaching philosophy without classroom examples
  • Behaviour answers with no routine or follow-up
  • Not mentioning how you measured progress
