Product manager interviews test how you think as much as what you have done: how you choose what to build, how you measure it and how you bring engineering, design and the business with you.

Situation, task, action, result. The structure is what to copy; the story should be yours.
“Tell me about a decision you made with incomplete data.”
- SSituation
A checkout redesign was ready two weeks before the user research would come back.
- TTask
Decide whether to wait or ship, with conversion as the risk.
- AAction
I set out the two options and the criteria, then released the redesign to one user in ten with a rollback ready, and watched conversion daily.
- RResult
Conversion rose in the test group within the week, so we rolled it out fully before the research landed, and the research confirmed it.
Mistakes to avoid
- Jumping to a feature before defining the user and the problem
- Naming metrics without saying what decision each one informs
- Telling team stories with “we” so your own role disappears
