Google Interview Warmup is gone. Here is a free alternative that scores your answers.

Interview Warmup gave you real questions to answer out loud and showed you what you said. Google switched it off in March 2026. Huru does the same job, for free, and adds what Warmup never did: a score and a fix for every answer.

For the same free, spoken practice, Huru is the closest replacement. Google never announced the shutdown that we could find. The dates below come from Google’s own pages and the Internet Archive.

What Warmup never told you

Warmup showed you what you said: a transcript, the job-related terms you used, the words you repeated. Google was explicit that “your responses aren’t graded or judged”. That made it gentle, and it left the hard question to you: was that a good answer?

Huru answers it. Every answer is scored out of 100 on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation, then comes back with what worked, the one thing to change and a stronger version of your own answer. You fix one thing and answer again, which is how the skill actually builds.

  1. Pick the role, or paste the job

    Choose the closest of 242+ career roles, or paste a job title and description and Huru writes the interview for that job. Warmup had five fields; this is the part that changed most.

  2. Answer out loud, on camera

    Huru asks one question at a time and records your answer, so you rehearse speaking, not reading notes. Same habit Warmup built.

  3. Read the score, fix one thing, answer again

    Every answer comes back scored out of 100 on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation, with what worked, the one thing to fix and a stronger version. Then take it again.

Other free ways to practice

Huru is not the only option, and for some people it is not the best one.

  • Gemini Live

    Google’s own suggestion now. A general-purpose assistant you talk to; it can play an interviewer if you set it up, but it has no question library and does not score answers against an interview rubric.

  • A general AI assistant

    ChatGPT or Claude in voice mode can run a mock interview if you write a good prompt. Flexible, but you design the interview and judge the answers yourself.

  • A person

    A friend, a mentor or your career center gives the most human feedback, and many universities offer mock interviews free to students. Harder to schedule as often as you want.

Is Google Interview Warmup still available?
No. Its address has redirected since March 2026: the last capture of the working tool in the Internet Archive is from 5 March 2026, and by 26 March it was redirecting. Today grow.google/interview-warmup opens a general Grow with Google article, “How to Prepare for an Interview” (checked 29 September 2026).
Why did Google shut down Interview Warmup?
Google has not published a reason that we could find. The article its old address now opens suggests Gemini Live for practice.
Is there a free alternative to Google Interview Warmup?
