Best AI Recruiting Software (2026): AI Hiring Tools Compared by Use Case

The best AI recruiting software in 2026, compared by use case: Beatview for recruitment agencies and high-volume screening, plus AI interview platforms, conversational assistants, ATSs with AI and sourcing tools, with published prices, what each tool's AI actually does, the rules on AI in hiring, and what candidates experience.

The Huru mascot, dressed as a recruiter, picks a glowing green candidate card from a row of frosted-glass profile cards, with a grid of video interview tiles on a screen behind it

The short answer: the best AI recruiting software depends on the hiring problem you have. For recruitment agencies, staffing firms and any team that screens a high volume of applications, our pick is Beatview. It’s an AI recruiting agent that scores every application against your criteria, runs structured one-way AI video interviews, and gives recruiters a shortlist with the evidence behind each score. It has a free plan; Pro costs $179 a month billed annually. For other needs: HireVue for enterprise AI interviews, Paradox (now part of Workday) for high-volume frontline hiring, Ashby or Workable for an all-in-one ATS with AI built in, Bullhorn, Recruit CRM or Loxo as an agency system of record, and hireEZ, Gem or Eightfold for sourcing and talent intelligence. Every fact about every tool below comes from the vendor’s own website, read on 29 October 2026, with sources at the end.

Disclosure. Huru and Beatview are made by the same company, Beatview, Inc., and the author of this guide is one of its co-founders. We put Beatview first because it’s the tool we know best and because it was built for the screening work this guide is about. Judge it on the facts below, which, like every other vendor’s, come from its own public pages. No vendor paid to be listed.

Huru is the free AI interview coach for job seekers, so we see hiring from the candidate’s side too. That’s why this guide covers one thing most “best AI recruiting tools” lists skip: what your candidates experience.

Prices as published on 29 October 2026, in US dollars. Many vendors price by company size, seats or volume, so check the vendor’s page for your numbers.

How we chose and checked

  • Primary sources only. For each tool we read the vendor’s product, pricing and help pages on 29 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars as published; “contact sales” means the vendor doesn’t publish one.
  • What the AI actually does. We describe the AI features each vendor documents, and what stays with a person. Marketing words like “AI-powered” don’t count without a description.
  • Human decisions and transparency. We favor tools that show recruiters why a candidate scored as they did and leave the decision with a person.
  • Fit, not rank. Apart from Beatview, which we placed first and disclosed, the tools are grouped by the job they do. An ATS and an AI interview platform aren’t substitutes, and many teams use one of each.
  • What we didn’t do. We didn’t buy every paid plan or run a bias test on any product. Where a vendor says nothing, we say nothing.

1. Beatview: best for recruitment agencies and high-volume screening

Our pick · beatview.ai · Free plan · Pro from $179/month (billed annually)

Beatview calls itself “the AI recruiting agent for recruitment agencies.” It handles the layer between “application received” and “shortlist sent”: it reads every application, interviews candidates with structured video questions and hands recruiters a scored shortlist, while “recruiters keep every decision.” It runs alongside your ATS rather than replacing it, and its AI interview page says it’s designed for “hiring teams screening dozens to thousands of candidates per role,” so in-house teams with high applicant volumes can use it too.

What the AI does

  • Resume screening. Every application is scored against the role criteria your recruiter configures, with the reasoning shown: the resume lines that match, strengths, and gaps. Lower scores stay visible for review; nothing is silently filtered out.
  • Structured AI video interviews. Every candidate answers the same timed questions on their own schedule, from any device. Each answer is scored for clarity, relevance and depth, and recruiters watch the recordings and read the assessment before deciding. In Beatview’s words, “scoring supports evaluation but does not make decisions.”
  • Automation with a record. Stage rules move candidates and send interview invitations, and every automated step and recruiter decision is logged on the candidate record.
  • Agency tools. A branded career page on every plan (custom domain and email on Pro), and password-protected candidate links for clients, who never see your workspace.
  • Run it from your AI assistant. An MCP server, on every plan, lets you open roles, review candidates and move them forward from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, after you confirm each action.

Pricing: Free (Starter) is $0: one active job, unlimited candidates, resume screening and a branded career page. Pro is $219 a month billed monthly, or $179 a month billed annually ($2,148 a year): up to three active jobs, AI video interviews, the Work Style assessment and team collaboration. Enterprise (custom pricing) adds unlimited active jobs, Zapier, API access and webhooks.

Integrations: Bullhorn, Vincere, JobAdder, Greenhouse and Workable are listed as supported, through Zapier or a native integration that Beatview enables on request. Candidates apply through job links you post on LinkedIn, Indeed or any job board.

Watch-outs: Beatview works on the applications you receive; it isn’t a tool for sourcing passive candidates. Its interviews are one-way and recorded, not live conversations. Pro covers three active jobs, so busy desks will need Enterprise, which is also where Zapier and the API are.

Why it’s first: in agency work, reading applications is the step that grows with volume but earns nothing, and Beatview automates it without hiding its reasoning. The free plan lets you try it on a real role before paying.

AI interview platforms

2. HireVue: best for enterprise AI interviewing and assessments

hirevue.com · Pricing not published

HireVue serves teams “from mid-market to enterprise,” including hourly, campus, technical and professional hiring. Its AI Interviewer runs a two-way interview, scores answers against your rubric and sends the scores to your ATS, while recruiters make the decisions. It also offers round-the-clock AI screening interviews, assessments, scheduling, and an interview co-pilot for Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Pricing: no prices on its pricing page; you book a demo.

Good to know: the AI Interviewer page lists NYC Local Law 144, EEOC and OFCCP audits and says every model passes adverse impact testing before going live. HireVue’s 2025 explainability statement says its AI scores the transcript of an answer, not facial expressions or tone of voice.

3. Spark Hire: best for small and midsize teams that want video interviews

sparkhire.com · Video interviews from $249/month (billed annually)

Spark Hire calls itself hiring software “for small & medium organizations.” It offers one-way and live video interviews, an ATS and a behavioral assessment. Its AI scores and summarizes one-way interviews, transcribes them, reviews resumes and suggests questions; an AI notetaker is an add-on.

Pricing: video interviews start at $249 a month billed annually, with unlimited jobs and users, and the price varies by company size. Month to month, it’s $299 a month for up to five jobs. The ATS (Recruit) starts at $335 a month billed annually.

Good to know: no free trial is mentioned on its pricing page.

Conversational AI for high-volume hiring

4. Paradox (Workday): best for high-volume frontline hiring

paradox.ai · Pricing not published

Paradox’s assistant, Olivia, screens candidates by chat and text, lets them schedule their own interviews and handles onboarding paperwork. It’s built for frontline hiring in retail, restaurants, franchises, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing and hospitality, where speed matters more than a long interview.

Pricing: not published; demo only.

Good to know: Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on 1 October 2025, and the product is now also sold through Workday. Paradox says its ethical AI practices follow Workday’s standards and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, with regular bias evaluations. Video interviews are a $109-a-month add-on on Standard. Each plan includes 3,000 AI credits; the sourcing, screening and engagement agents use them.

manatal.com · From $15/user/month (billed annually) · 14-day free trial

Manatal is an ATS and recruitment CRM used by agencies and in-house teams. Its AI recommends and scores candidates, enriches profiles from social networks, writes job descriptions, and offers a video AI Interviewer.

Agency ATS and CRM with AI

recruitcrm.io · From $95/user/month (billed annually) · 30-day free trial

Loxo calls itself a “Talent Intelligence Platform”: ATS, recruiting CRM, sourcing and outreach in one, for direct-hire and executive search firms, staffing agencies, RPO firms and in-house teams. It offers natural-language search over what it says is an 850-million-person talent graph, longlist and shortlist agents, outreach agents and an AI notetaker.

Pricing: Core starts at $149 per user a month billed annually and doesn’t include the AI agents. Professional is priced on a demo; Enterprise is a custom annual agreement. The 7-day trial of Professional needs no card.

gem.com · Custom pricing

What AI recruiting software does

“AI recruiting software” covers several different jobs. Knowing which one you need avoids buying two tools that overlap, or one that skips your real bottleneck.

JobWhat the AI doesExamples in this guide
SourcingFinds and ranks people who haven’t applied, drafts outreachhireEZ, Gem, Loxo
ScreeningReviews applications against your criteria and shows whyBeatview, Workable, Manatal, Ashby
AI interviewsAsks structured questions, records answers, scores them for a recruiter to reviewBeatview, HireVue, Spark Hire
Conversational assistantsAnswers candidate questions, screens and schedules by chat or textParadox
ATS and CRM with AIStores candidates and jobs; AI adds matching, summaries and draftingAshby, Workable, Bullhorn, Recruit CRM, Manatal, Loxo
AgentsCarry out a sequence of steps on their own while a person sets the rules and decidesBeatview, and agent features from several ATS vendors

Beatview defines the last one this way: an AI recruiting agent “carries out a sequence of recruiting steps on its own,” while “a human recruiter sets the rules and makes the final hiring decision.” Unlike an ATS, “which stores and organises applications, an agent acts on them.”

Rules on AI in hiring you should know

Laws differ by location and change often. This isn’t legal advice, but these are the ones buyers ask about most:

  • New York City, Local Law 144. If you use an automated employment decision tool to assess candidates for jobs in the city, the tool needs a bias audit within a year before use, you have to publish a summary of the results, and candidates must be notified. The city started enforcing the law on 5 July 2023.
  • Illinois, the Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act. Before an interview that AI may analyze, employers must tell the candidate, explain how the AI works and what characteristics it evaluates, and get consent. They must limit who sees the video and delete it within 30 days if the candidate asks.
  • The EU AI Act. It lists AI systems used for recruitment or selection, “in particular to place targeted job advertisements, to analyse and filter job applications, and to evaluate candidates,” as high-risk, which brings obligations for providers and for the employers using them. Separately, AI that infers emotions in the workplace is banned, except for medical or safety reasons; that ban has applied since 2 February 2025.

Whatever the law where you hire, ask each vendor for its published audits, what it scores, and how long it keeps recordings. Beatview, for example, says it keeps video interview recordings for up to one year after the interview unless the law requires or allows longer.

What your candidates experience

Most lists stop at the recruiter’s dashboard. We build Huru for the people on the other side of these tools, and candidates are wary. In a Pew Research Center survey, Americans opposed AI making the final hiring decision by 71% to 7%, and 66% said they wouldn’t want to apply for a job where AI helps make hiring decisions.

That doesn’t mean skipping AI. It means using it in a way candidates can trust:

  • Keep a person as the decision-maker, and say so. Pew’s finding is about final decisions. Tools that leave the decision with a recruiter, as Beatview does, let you say that honestly.
  • Tell candidates what’s assessed. In an AI video interview, say that answers are scored on their content, which criteria are used, and that a recruiter watches the recording. Our candidate guide on how AI video interviews are scored explains this from their side.
  • Make the format predictable. Show the number of questions and the time limits up front, allow a device check, and use the same questions and limits for everyone, judged against a written rubric. Our interview rubric and scorecard guide shows how to build one.
  • Offer accommodations. Tell candidates how to ask for one before the interview.
  • Help them prepare. Candidates who have practiced answering out loud give clearer answers, which makes your shortlist easier to judge. Our guide to AI interviews is written for them, and you can link it in your invitation.

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. What exactly does the AI score, and can a recruiter see why? Ask to see the reasoning behind a real score, not a demo slide.
  2. Who makes the decision? Can a recruiter override every recommendation, and are rejections ever automatic?
  3. Audits and notices. If you hire in New York City, ask for the vendor’s bias audit summary. Ask how the tool supports candidate notice and consent.
  4. Data. Where is candidate data stored, how long are recordings kept, and can a candidate ask for deletion?
  5. Your ATS. Does the tool replace your system of record or sit beside it? Is the integration native, through Zapier, or only on a higher plan?
  6. Price at your volume. Count active jobs, seats, interview credits and any annual commitment. A low entry price can rise quickly with volume.
  7. The candidate’s view. Take the candidate flow yourself on a phone before you roll it out.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI recruiting software?
It depends on the job you need done. For recruitment agencies and teams that screen many applications, our pick is Beatview (made by Beatview, Inc., the company behind Huru): AI resume screening with the reasoning shown, structured one-way AI video interviews and a free plan. HireVue suits enterprise AI interviews, Paradox high-volume frontline hiring, Ashby and Workable an all-in-one ATS, and hireEZ, Gem or Loxo sourcing.
What is AI recruiting software?
Software that uses AI for parts of hiring: finding candidates (sourcing), scoring applications against your criteria (screening), running and scoring structured interviews, chatting with candidates and scheduling, or carrying out a sequence of these steps as an agent. In the tools reviewed here, a recruiter makes the final decision.
Is there free AI recruiting software?
Beatview has a free plan: one active job with unlimited candidates, AI resume screening and a branded career page. Several others offer free trials instead: Recruit CRM for 30 days, Workable for 15 days, Manatal for 14 days and Loxo for 7 days.
What is the best AI recruiting software for recruitment agencies?
Most agencies need two things: a system of record (an agency ATS and CRM such as Bullhorn, Recruit CRM, Loxo or Manatal) and something that handles screening volume. Beatview is built for the second: it scores every application, runs structured AI video interviews and shares candidates with clients through password-protected links, alongside the ATS you already use.
How much does AI recruiting software cost?
Published prices on 29 October 2026 ranged from $15 per user a month (Manatal, billed annually) to custom enterprise contracts. Beatview Pro is $179 a month billed annually, Bullhorn starts at $99 per user a month, Workable at $299 a month for the smallest companies, and Ashby at $400 a month. HireVue, Paradox, hireEZ and Eightfold don't publish prices.
Is it legal to use AI in hiring?
Generally yes, with rules that depend on where you hire. New York City requires a bias audit and candidate notice for automated employment decision tools. Illinois requires notice, an explanation and consent before AI analyzes a video interview. The EU AI Act treats AI used to filter applications and evaluate candidates as high-risk and bans AI that infers emotions in the workplace. Check the rules where you hire; this isn't legal advice.
Will AI recruiting software replace recruiters?
Not in the tools reviewed here. They take over repeatable steps such as reading applications, scheduling and first-round interviews, and several say plainly that a person decides: Beatview says recruiters keep every decision, and Gem and hireEZ say their AI does not make hiring or employment decisions.
What's the difference between an ATS and an AI recruiting agent?
An applicant tracking system stores and organizes applications and moves candidates through stages. An AI recruiting agent acts on them: it reads and scores applications, sends interview invitations by your rules and prepares evidence for a recruiter to review. Many teams use both, with the ATS as the system of record.
