Huru

The best AI mock interview tools in 2026, compared honestly

Eight tools that let you practice interviews with AI, each best at something different. Every fact below comes from the company’s own website, read on 30 September 2026. We make Huru, so we list what it doesn’t do as plainly as the others.

Checked on . Re-checked every month.

The short answer

There is no single best AI mock interview tool: it depends on the interview. For behavioral and role-specific interviews answered out loud, Huru is free and scores every answer. For technical interviews with real engineers, interviewing.io (from $179 a session, with a free AI interviewer for coding and system design). For tech and product interviews with peers, Aced, formerly Exponent, which absorbed Pramp: five free peer mocks a month. For speaking delivery, Yoodli. For lessons before you practice, Big Interview. For a quick check of answers to a job description, Interviews by AI. ChatGPT works if you write the prompts yourself. Google Interview Warmup was retired in March 2026.

HuruOur product

Best for: free practice for any role, answered out loud on video

How it works
You answer on camera, question by question, in a mock interview for one of 242+ career roles, or a custom interview built from any job title and description (also from a job post, with the Chrome extension). Web, iOS and Chrome extension.
Feedback
Every answer scored out of 100 by Huru’s own model (relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation), with what worked, what to fix and a stronger version of your answer
Free
Free for everyone, with every feature
Paid
None for job seekers

Good at

  • Every answer scored against the same five criteria, with the one thing to fix and a stronger version
  • Questions from the exact job you’re applying for
  • Five languages, on mobile as well as desktop
  • An interview skills program and a resume builder in the same app

Watch out for

  • No human interviewers and no coding environment
  • It judges what you say and how clearly, not your voice tone, pace, filler words or body language
  • Feedback comes after each answer, not while you speak
2

interviewing.io

Best for: technical mock interviews with senior engineers

How it works
Anonymous mock interviews with engineers from companies such as Google, Meta, Amazon, OpenAI and Netflix: coding, system design, machine learning, front-end, behavioral and engineering management. “Interviews have voice but no video, and your interviewer will not have access to any of your info.”
Feedback
From your interviewer: an engineer from a company such as Google, Meta or Amazon
Free
A free AI interviewer that “simulates a FAANG-style interview” and “can do both coding and system design”
Paid
“Interviews start at $179”; the price depends on the subject and on choosing an interviewer from a specific company. Multi-session coaching packages

Good at

  • Practice with an engineer from the kind of company you’re targeting
  • Anonymous: your interviewer doesn’t see who you are
  • The AI interviewer is free for coding and system design

Watch out for

  • Expensive for repeated practice
  • Built for software engineering and engineering management
3

Aced (formerly Exponent)

Best for: tech and product interviews, with peers and AI

How it works
Peer mock interviews over video, where you take turns as interviewer and candidate, plus AI mock interviews, courses and a question database. Product management, coding, system design, behavioral, SQL, data science and ML, front-end, investment banking and finance.
Feedback
From your peer after each session; AI mock interviews with AI feedback on the AI plan
Free
Basic: 5 peer mocks a month, sample lessons and sample questions, no credit card
Paid
Pro: $12 a month billed yearly, or $79 month to month, with unlimited peer mocks and all courses. AI: $20 a month billed yearly, or $99 month to month, adding AI mock interviews, AI feedback and an AI coach

Good at

  • Free live practice with another person, five times a month
  • Courses, company guides and a question database for tech and product roles

Watch out for

  • Your peer is a candidate too, so feedback quality varies
  • AI mock interviews are on the top plan

Pramp, the free peer mock interview site, moved into Exponent in July 2024 (“all new Pramp sessions are hosted on Exponent Practice”). Exponent is now called Aced.

4

How it works
AI roleplays for interview prep, public speaking and communication coaching, and for sales calls, objection handling and pitches.

Pro $8 a month (up to 10 roleplays a week) and Advanced $20 a month (unlimited roleplays), billed yearly. Team and Enterprise plans are custom

Good at

  • Delivery analytics such as pacing and conciseness
  • Useful beyond interviews: presentations and sales calls

Watch out for

  • Built for sales and speaking as much as for job interviews
  • The free plan is five sessions in total
5

Big Interview

Best for: a structured course, then practice

How it works
170 video lessons and step-by-step learning paths, then an Interview Simulator with “realistic questions and conditions”, on video, and a resume tool.
Feedback
VideoAI: “instant AI insights on delivery, clarity, and more”
Free
No free plan: a 30-day, 100% money-back guarantee
Paid
$39 for one month, $99 for three months, $299 for lifetime access

Good at

  • Lessons that teach the method before you practice
  • Also sold to career centers and workforce agencies, so check whether yours provides it

Watch out for

  • You pay before you practice
  • Course-first: lessons come before practice
6

Interviews by AI

Best for: a quick check of answers to a job description

How it works
Paste a job description to get behavioral and technical questions for the role, then answer out loud or in writing. Audio is transcribed and, it says, deleted straight after.
Feedback
“Instant feedback built on frameworks like STAR, plus a stronger sample answer to learn from”
Free
3 questions a month
Paid
Pro $9 a month: unlimited questions, resume upload and longer answer times

Good at

  • Fast: a question and feedback in minutes
  • Written answers are an option when you can’t speak out loud

Watch out for

  • The free plan is three questions a month
  • Its site doesn’t mention video answers
7

ChatGPT

Best for: flexible practice, if you write the prompts yourself

How it works
Ask it to interview you for a role, one question at a time, and to give feedback after each answer. Voice chats let you answer out loud.
Feedback
Whatever you ask for. Nothing is scored the same way twice unless you set the criteria in your prompt each time
Free
A free plan with “limited voice chats”
Paid
Go, Plus and Pro add more voice chats; prices depend on your country

Good at

  • You probably already have it
  • Good for drafting stories and trying different versions of an answer

Watch out for

  • No consistent scoring or progress tracking unless you build it into your prompts
  • Tends to be generous with praise; ask it to be strict

Ready-made prompts for behavioral practice: our interview practice prompts.

8

Final Round AI

Best for: mainly a live-interview assistant; practice is part of its paid plan

How it works
Practice Interview: a spoken back-and-forth with an AI interviewer in eight formats (general, coding, system design, behavioral, product case, data and ML, salary negotiation and recruiter screen), using your resume and job description. Desktop app for macOS and Windows.
Feedback
An automatic debrief: a summary of your answers, your weakest moments and “re-drill targets you can repeat”
Free
A free plan for setting up (goals, resume, job description parsing). Practice sessions need Pro
Paid
Pro from “$25+/mo”, no free trial; up to 40% less on longer billing

Good at

  • Many interview formats, including recruiter screens and salary talks
  • Practice built from your resume and the job description

Watch out for

  • Its headline product, Interview CoPilot, suggests answers during real interviews. Many employers forbid outside help, so check the rules of your process
  • Desktop only, and no free practice

How we compared

We make Huru. Here is how we kept the list fair.

Every fact about another tool comes from that company’s own website: its pricing page, product pages and FAQ, read on 30 September 2026 and linked under Sources. Where a site doesn’t say something, we don’t either. Prices are in US dollars, as shown there.

We didn’t buy every plan, so we describe what each company says its product does rather than scoring it. Huru’s entry lists what it doesn’t do as plainly as the others: no human interviewers, no coding environment, and no analysis of your voice tone, pace or body language.

Plans and prices change. Check before you pay; we re-check this page every month. If something here is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.

What any AI mock interview can’t do

AI is good for repetitions: as many takes as you want, questions from the exact job, and the same criteria every time. It doesn’t know the employer or the team, it can mishear a word, and it can’t pick your best stories for you.

Use AI to practice until your answers are clear, then do a final mock interview with a person, with a script and a scorecard. Our guide to what an AI interview coach can and can’t do goes further.

AI mock interview tools: questions

What is the best AI mock interview tool?
It depends on the interview. For behavioral and role-specific interviews answered out loud, Huru is free and scores every answer. For technical interviews, interviewing.io (real engineers, from $179 a session, and a free AI interviewer for coding and system design) and Aced, formerly Exponent (free peer mocks). For speaking delivery, Yoodli. For lessons first, Big Interview.
Is there a free AI mock interview?
Yes. Huru is free for everyone, with every feature. interviewing.io’s AI interviewer is free for coding and system design. Aced gives five free peer mock interviews a month, Yoodli five sessions in total, Interviews by AI three questions a month, and ChatGPT’s free plan includes limited voice chats (all as listed on their websites on 30 September 2026).
Is Pramp still free?
Pramp moved into Exponent in July 2024: “all new Pramp sessions are hosted on Exponent Practice”. Exponent is now called Aced. Its free Basic plan includes five peer mock interviews a month; the paid Pro plan makes them unlimited.
What happened to Google Interview Warmup?
Google retired Interview Warmup in March 2026. Our page on Google Interview Warmup alternatives sets out what happened, with dates and sources, and the free options that replace it.
Which AI mock interview is best for coding interviews?
interviewing.io has a free AI interviewer for coding and system design, and paid sessions with engineers from big tech companies. Aced offers free peer mocks with a coding environment. Huru has no coding environment: use it for the behavioral rounds and for explaining your projects out loud.
Is Final Round AI a mock interview tool?
Partly. Its headline product, Interview CoPilot, suggests answers during real interviews. It also has Practice Interviews with an AI interviewer, which need its Pro plan, from “$25+/mo”, with no free trial (its pricing page, 30 September 2026).
Can an AI mock interview replace practicing with a person?
Not entirely. AI gives you as many repetitions as you want and the same criteria every time, but it doesn’t know the employer and can mishear a word. Use AI for the repetitions, then do a final mock interview with a person.
